Radio has stopped streaming audio.
Rainbow Radio began broadcasting club dance music in
1997, as a service to the various DJs who wish to contribute mixes to
the site. Over 300 mixes were contributed, and more are still
added every month. But, there is and was no way to compensate the
web site owners for the resources required to maintain the site, so it
has existed solely as a labor of love since then. In the United
States, the broadcasting lobby and record companies completely control
the distribution of music, and the copyright laws serve the interests of
only the largest of those. Hence, there is no legal profit model
for running an independent and small music distribution website.
Rainbow Radio uses a lot of bandwidth that must be paid for somehow, and
the site must be maintained with mixes encoded, new pages added,
periodic theme changes, upgrades to software, promotion, etc. The
owners of Rainbow Radio can no longer afford it!
